Come see why we’re called a Village in a Box!
401 Richmond Street West is a restored, heritage-designated industrial building-turned award-winning arts and culture hub that has been called a Village in a Box. Come see why when 401 Richmond opens its doors each May for Doors Open Toronto!
We welcome guests to explore the building, to learn about it’s history, and to see the stunning and well-preserved architectural features including original brick and beam construction, and painstakingly maintained original sash windows. Visitors can get a sneak peak into the rich community of tenants, and see the Three “C”s – community, culture, and commerce – at work. We offer a range of special programming including guided tours of the building that explain the vision of 401 and it’s unique regeneration story. Our knowledgeable guides can point out hidden features and share interesting anecdotes about 401 Richmond’s storied history. Tours also take visitors through the galleries, shops, open studios and to our beautiful rooftop garden! Our two on-site cafes ensure you can grab something to nibble or sip as you enjoy wandering our extensive hallways.
Admission is free to this family-friendly event! Details regarding upcoming Village in a Box events can be found on our events listings page.
